Kim Singer in the Sea of Cameras

Not too long ago I had the privilege of shooting Sleeping Beauty at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. After a great performance I was asked to get a group picture of the cast…….and the flood gates were let loose. I was surrounded by moms, dads, grandmas, and grandpas in a sea of cameras as I do my best to get a group photo of the young actors. I answered a few questions and mingled with the crowd and eventually came out with a great group shot. It’s times like these that I’ve gotta sit back and laugh. It’s images like this that I can look back on and just say to myself, “Wow. I love my job.”
A Lovely Thing Remembering Our Days at Greenwood High: GHS Graduation
•May 18, 2009 • Leave a Comment
This past Friday, it was all smiles at Smith-Robinson as the 2009 Greenwood High School Graduates took the field. As Pomp and Circumstance filled the air, the Seniors at GHS made their final march as a class before becoming offi
cial Greenwood Alumni. Class President Hunter Cabe offered his welcome speach with a special message to the soon to be high school graduates: that they go into the world and show everyone that they “Ain’t seen nothing yet.” The crowd swelled in anticipation as GHS Principal Jerry Efurd introduced Dr. James Burgess, known to many simply as Doc Burgess, as the guest speaker. Dr. Burgess spoke elequently on the meaning and the impact of the words that one uses. Doc left the audience with laughter and inspiration as he offered his good will to the class of 2009. Next on the agenda was an address by the class of ’09′s Valedictorian, Shelby Chamness. Ms. Chamness took her time to produce a nostalgic expression of her experience at Greenwood High School and continued the standard of inspiration started by the first tw
o speakers. Finally it was time for Dr. Kay Johnson to oversee the school board members in handing out the diplomas that the grads had worked so hard for over the past 13 years. As the last diploma was handed out, Salutatorian Erika Beshears came to the podium to present the “Graduate’s Creed.” After reading this, Erika and the rest of the seniors were officialy graduated and the tassels were turned. As the night began to wind down, newly graduated Hayley Carter and
Meagan Childers came forth to sing one final duet. The song titled “For Good” rang through the stands and the lyrics rang true for all seniors who knew that no matter how difficult high school may have been, they will safeguard their memories forever and that they have truly been changed for good.
With one final verse of the Alma Mater, the class of 2009 had finally graduated and were ready to move on with their lives and careers. As the graduates threw their caps into the air and as they look back on the photos of that night, one could only hope that to each of them, it truly will be a lovely thing remembering their days at Greenwood High.
Lights, Camera, Prom: GHS Style

Just a few weeks back, the Singer clan made their way to the Fort Smith Convention Center to shoot Greenwood High students living it up at prom. The theme was Lights, Camera, Prom and, as the name would suggest, the glitz and glamor was not in short supply. Armed with a shooter by the dance floor and myself in the foyer, the group effort was a huge success. To see the night as I did, enter Clients and Events on my main page and check them out!
A Run to the Rib Room
•May 4, 2009 • Leave a CommentThis past Thursday night, the doors were finally open and the anticipation was finally squelched to the new and improved Rib Room. The newly renovated space has been upgraded to a two level, open floor plan, entertainment palace. Friends and family and the Honorable Mayor Ray Baker, gathered to bid good tidings to the Rib Room team on a successful reopening.
Guests were never hesitant to raise their glasses for a toast to a fun-filled night and a promise of many more to come. Although the weather threatened to put a damper on the evening, mother nature held off her wrath for the attendees to have a little fun.
Not only was the company and the beverage superb, but so was the entertainment. The Klocks, who make their way from their home in San Antonio to cover the wide spectrum of the Beegees, 80′s hair bands, and a medley of today’s popular genres, were there to help us sing the night away in style.
Although no food was served on Thursday, we made the journey back on Saturday to enjoy the same fun but with a tasty twist. If one were to be looking for the best rubbed chicken and ribs in the River Valley, then one would need to look no further than the Rib Room. The food is delectable, the entertainment is incomprehensible, and the memories are ones that won’t soon be forgotten.
